remastering a classic
Grand Canyon: The Hidden Secrets is a film released in 1984 produced by Academy Award® winner Kieth Merrill. Grand Canyon Visitor Center wanted to create a historical event for the digital remaster as the IMAX theater sunset the last 70mm film. Reuniting the original crew, it was an opportunity to make the event wondrous.

The Grand Canyon Visitor Center wanted a way to generate buzz for the reunion of the original film crew of the IMAX Film "Grand Canyon: The Hidden Secrets."
We wanted to celebrate the sunsetting of the legendary 70mm film and generate buzz to match, creating an invitation as grand as the canyon to let friends, family, and media know about this important milestone in the film's history.
To honor the legacy of Grand Canyon, we combined elements of its natural beauty, tying in visual cues from the film to create a piece that would leave attendees talking throughout the ages.
Deep reds and golden hues paired with strong typography, and an unfolding print-piece that expanded beyond initial impression wrapped in 70mm film encouraged recipients to discover what we had in store. All contained within a customized film tin that resembled an archaeological find.
Display advertising and a landing page that partnered with local hospitality directed visitors to the Grand Canyon Visitor Center and invited them to enjoy the movie while visiting the canyon. Updated signage and accompanying wall murals helped to reinforce the legacy of the film and increase ticket purchases.
With this event came the announcement that the Grand Canyon Visitor Center would be renovating its IMAX theater with new state-of-the-art technology as well as a refreshed remaster titled “Grand Canyon: Rivers of Time” and a branding opportunity for Revenue.
